Ignaz Franz

1719 - 1790 Person Name: ignaz Franz, 1719-1790 Scripture: Isaiah 6:2-3 Author (attributed to) of "Holy God, We Praise Thy Name (Santo, Santo Dios de Amor)" in Oramos Cantando = We Pray In Song Ignaz Franz Poland 1719-1790. Born at Protzau, Silesia, he studied in Glaz andf Breslau. In 1742 he became a Roman Catholic priest. He served as chaplain at Gross-Glogau and vicar of Glogau in Silesia. In 1753 he was appointed archpriest at Schlawa, and assessor to the apostolic vicar's office in Breslau in 1766. He also functioned as the Assessor for Theological Affairs at the Apostolic Vicariate. He wrote hymn lyrics and compiled religious music. His works include “Katholisches Gesangbuch” (1744). He died at Breslau. John Perry

Frederick W. Foster

1760 - 1835 Person Name: Frederick W. Foster, 1760-1835 Scripture: Isaiah 6:2-3 Translator of "God Himself is Present" in Lutheran Service Book Foster, Frederick William, second son. of William Foster, was born at Bradford, Aug. 1, 1760, and educated at Fulneck, near Leeds, and at Barby in Prussian Saxony. Entering the Moravian Ministry he held several appointments until 1818, when he was consecrated a Bishop of the Moravian Church. He died at Ockbrook, near Derby, April 12, 1835. He compiled the Moravian Hymn Book of 1801, the Supplement of 1808, and the revised edition of 1826. His translations from the German, and his original hymns appeared in that collection. Two of his original hymns are in the Irish Church Hymnal, 1873; (1) "Lord, Who didst sanctify" 1808 (Holiness desired); and (2) "With thanks before the Lord appear," 1826 (Praise of the Saviour). Alfred V. Fedak

b. 1953 Scripture: Isaiah 6:8 Harmonizer of "HERE I AM (Schutte)" in Glory to God Alfred Fedak (b. 1953), is a well-known organist, composer, and Minister of Music at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Capitol Hill in Albany, New York. He graduated from Hope College in 1975 with degrees in organ performance and music history. He obtained a Master’s degree in organ performance from Montclair State University, and has also studied at Westminster Choir College, Eastman School of Music, the Institute for European Studies in Vienna, and at the first Cambridge Choral Studies Seminar at Clare College, Cambridge. As a composer, he has over 200 choral and organ works in print, and has three published anthologies of his work (Selah Publishing). In 1995, he was named a Visiting Fellow in Church Music at Episcopal Seminary of the Soutwest in Austin, Texas. He is also a Fellow of the American Guild of Organists, and was awarded the AGO’s prestigious S. Lewis Elmer Award. Fedak is a Life Member of the Hymn Society, and writes for The American Organist, The Hymn, Reformed Worship, and Music and Worship. He was a member of the Presbyterian Committee on Congregational Song that prepared Glory to God, the 2013 hymnal of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Laura de Jong
