His Eye Is on the Sparrow

Author: Civilla D. Martin, 1868-1949 Appears in 99 hymnals Topics: Consolation First Line: Why should I feel discouraged Lyrics: 1 Why should I feel discouraged, Why should the shadows come, Why should my heart be lonely And long for heav'n and home, When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is he: His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me. 2 "Let not your heart be troubled," His tender word I hear, And resting on his goodness, I lose my doubts and fears; Tho' by the path he leadeth But one step I may see: His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me. 3 Whenever I am tempted, Whenever clouds arise, When songs give place to sighing, When hope within me dies, I draw the closer to him, From care he sets me free; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me; His eye is on the sparrow, And I know he watches me. Amen. Scripture: Matthew 40:29 Used With Tune: [Why should I feel discouraged]

My Shepherd Will Supply My Need

Author: Isaac Watts, 1674-1748 Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 234 hymnals Topics: Consolation Lyrics: 1 My shepherd will supply my need, The God of love supreme. In pastures green I come to feed, Beside the living stream. My wand'ring spirit is brought back Whene'er I go astray; For mercy's sake my heart is led In paths of truth and grace. 2 When I walk through the shades of death, Your presence is my stay; One word of your supporting breath Drives all my fears away. Your hand, in sight of all my foes, Does still my table spread; My cup with blessings overflows, Your oil anoints my head. 3 The sure provisions of my God Attend me all my days; O may your house be my abode, And all my work be praise! There would I find a settled rest, While others go and come, No more a stranger nor a guest, But like a child at home. Scripture: Psalm 23 Used With Tune: RESIGNATION
