Edinburgh, Scotland, April 8, 2010) was a Roman Catholic Jesuit priest who was ordained in 1950. As a consultant for the International Commission on English in the Liturgy, sparked by Vatican II, he has exerted influence far beyond his native Scotland. William Amps

1824 - 1910 Person Name: William Amps (1824-1910) Composer of "VENICE" in Ancient and Modern Amps was educated at Peterhouse, Cambridge (BA 1858, MA 1862). He played the organ at King’s College (1855-76) and Christ’s College. He also conducted the Cambridge University Musical Society for many years. Amps composed a good deal of music, including piano sonatas and part songs.
