Representative Text

1 When I battle with temptation
Be Thou near, ever near;
In the pow’r of Thy salvation,
Be Thou near me, Lord I pray.

Refrain:
Be Thou near, O blessed Saviour!
Always near, in sun and show’r;
Be Thou near, with gracious favor,
For I need Thy keeping pow’r.

2 In the hour of care and sadness,
Be Thou near, ever near;
Fill my heart with peace and gladness,
Be Thou near me, Lord I pray. [Refrain]

3 When I part with those who love me,
Be Thou near, ever near;
Let Thy light shine out above me,
Be Thou near me, Lord I pray. [Refrain]

4 When shall close this earthly story,
Be Thou near, ever near;
Till I see Thy face in glory,
Be Thou near me, Lord I pray. [Refrain]
