The Blood Of The Crucified One

Author: James T. McKim Appears in 2 hymnals First Line: There is joy in the heart of the one who is saved Refrain First Line: Oh the blood of the Crucified One Lyrics: 1 There is joy in the heart oof the one who is saved By the blood of the Crucified One; There is peace in the soul driving all doubts away, When we trust in the Crucified One; And we love all the world, when our will is the will Of the Christ who for sinners hath died: Then to Heaven look up, trust in God and obey, As in Jesus you sweetly confide. Refrain: Oh the blood of the Crucified One, The precious blood of Jesus! Making perfectly whole, ’Tis the hope of the soul, The precious blood of Jesus. 2 Oh, what joy it will be my Redeemer to see, For I trust in the Crucified One; I shall sing with the angels the song of the Lamb, At the last when life’s journey is done; For redemption’s complete, and God’s grace make me whole By the death of His infinite Son; When the conflict is o’er, on that heavenly shore I shall worship the Crucified One. [Refrain] 3 There’s no love that compares with God’s wonderful love, And Christ Jesus for all doth atone; God looked down from on high, from His throne in the sky, And, in pity beholding His own, Saw His sheep gone astray— turned earth’s darkness to day, For our Savior is greater than all, And His mercy is free, there is pardon for me— Oh, He hears every penitent’s call! [Refrain] 4 Then rejoice, O my soul, in a dear Savior’s love, From the bondage of sin I am free; It is glory to walk with my Savior each day, And to feel there is pardon for me. Oh, the joy and the peace that obedience hath won! Never tongue half the transport can sing; Blest the soul that is free, glad in God’s liberty, Shout the glory of Jesus our king! [Refrain] Used With Tune: [There is joy in the heart of the one who is saved]

Chas. H. Gabriel

1856 - 1932 Person Name: Charles Hutchinson Gabriel Composer of "[There is joy in the heart of the one who is saved]" in The Cyber Hymnal Pseudonyms: C. D. Emerson, Charlotte G. Homer, S. B. Jackson, A. W. Lawrence, Jennie Ree ============= For the first seventeen years of his life Charles Hutchinson Gabriel (b. Wilton, IA, 1856; d. Los Angeles, CA, 1932) lived on an Iowa farm, where friends and neighbors often gathered to sing. Gabriel accompanied them on the family reed organ he had taught himself to play. At the age of sixteen he began teaching singing in schools (following in his father's footsteps) and soon was acclaimed as a fine teacher and composer. He moved to California in 1887 and served as Sunday school music director at the Grace Methodist Church in San Francisco. After moving to Chicago in 1892, Gabriel edited numerous collections of anthems, cantatas, and a large number of songbooks for the Homer Rodeheaver, Hope, and E. O. Excell publishing companies. He composed hundreds of tunes and texts, at times using pseudonyms such as Charlotte G. Homer. The total number of his compositions is estimated at about seven thousand. Gabriel's gospel songs became widely circulated through the Billy Sunday-Homer Rodeheaver urban crusades. Bert Polman
