Joy in the Heart

Author: S. Martin Appears in 2 hymnals First Line: There is joy in the heart when its burden of sin Refrain First Line: Joy in the heart, yes, joy in the heart Lyrics: 1 There is joy in the heart when its burden of sin Is rolled and forever away, When it feels the assurance of pardon within, And walks in the sunshine of day. Refrain: Joy in the heart, yes, joy in the heart, No pleasure on earth e’er bestows; It comes from the word of Jesus the Lord, And sparkles wherever it goes. 2 There is joy in the heart when it sweetly confides, And clings to the Saviour alone; ‘Tis a temple of grace where the Spirit abides, And love has erected a throne. [Refrain] 3 There is joy in the heart that delights to perform Whatever its mission may be; That can laugh at the billow, or, braving the storm, The light of God’s mercy can see. [Refrain] 4 Oh, that joy in the heart may be found by us all, When willing for Jesus to live; If we ask him in faith he will answer our call, And freely that blessing will give. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [There is joy in the heart when its burden of sin]
