He Pardoned a Rebel Like Me

Hymnal: Light and Life Songs No. 3 #74 (1918) First Line: I heard of a Savior whose love was so great Refrain First Line: He pardon'd a rebel like me Lyrics: 1 I heard of a Savior whose love was so great He laid down his life on the tree; The thorns they were pierc’d in his beautiful brow To pardon a rebel like me. Refrain: He pardon’d a rebel like me, He pardon’d a rebel like me; The thorns they were pierc’d in his beautiful brow To pardon a rebel like me. 2 They tell me he wept over sinners one day, “If only they knew what I do! How oft would I gather you under my wing And pardon poor rebels like you.” [Refrain] 3 That wondrous compassion has broken my heart And bro’t me, dear Jesus, to Thee; I know when I came Thou wouldst not cast me out, But pardon a rebel like me. [Refrain] 4 ‘Tis true! wretched sinners right freely He saves, And you He will not cast away; The life everlasting He waits to bestow:, O come to your Savior today. [Refrain] Languages: English Tune Title: [I heard of a Savior whose love was so great]
