I Come with Joy

Author: Brian Wren Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 73 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 16 First Line: I come with joy to meet my Lord Lyrics: 1 I come with joy to meet my Lord, forgiven, loved and free, in awe and wonder to recall his life laid down for me, his life laid down for me. 2 I come with Christians far and near to find, as all are fed, the new community of love in Christ’s communion bread, in Christ's communion bread. 3 As Christ breaks bread and bids us share, each proud division ends. The love that made us makes us one, and strangers now are friends, and strangers now are friends. 4 And thus with joy we meet our Lord. His presence, always near, is in such friendship better known, we see and praise him here, we see and praise him here. 5 Together met, together bound we'll go our different ways, and as his people in the world, we'll live and speak his praise, we'll live and speak his praise. I Am Thine, O Lord

Author: Fanny J. Crosby Hymnal: Moravian Book of Worship #607 (1995) Meter: 10.7.10.7 with refrain Scripture: Psalm 16 Lyrics: 1 I am thine, O Lord - I have heard thy voice, and it told thy love to me; but I long to rise in the arms of faith, and be closer drawn to thee. Refrain: Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to the cross where thou hast died; draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to thy precious, bleeding side. 2 Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord, by the pow'r of grace divine; let my soul look up with a steadfast hope and my will be lost in thine. [Refrain] 3 O the pure delight of a single hour that before thy throne I spend, when I kneel in prayer and with thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend. [Refrain] 4 There are depths of love that I cannot know 'til I cross the narrow sea; there are heights of joy that I may not reach 'til I rest in peace with thee. In heavenly love abiding

Author: Anna Laetitia Waring, 1820-1910 Hymnal: Common Praise #478 (2000) Meter: 7.6.7.6.7.6.7.6 Scripture: Psalm 16:11 Lyrics: 1 In heavenly love abiding, no change my heart shall fear; and safe is such confiding, for nothing changes here: the storm may roar without me, my heart may low be laid; but God is round about me, and can I be dismayed? 2 Wherever he may guide me, no want shall turn me back; my Shepherd is beside me, and nothing can I lack: his wisdom ever waketh, his sight is never dim, he knows the way he taketh, and I will walk with him. 3 Green pastures are before me, which yet I have not seen; bright skies will soon be o'er me, where darkest clouds have been; my hope I cannot measure, my path to life is free; my Saviour has my treasure, and he will walk with me.
