Skrine, John Huntley, M.A., son of H. D. Skrine, was b. April 3, 1848, at Warleigh, Somerset; was educated at Uppingham and at Corpus Christi College, Oxford (B.A. 1871, M.A. 1874), and was ordained D. 1874, P. 1876. He was fellow of Mertcn Coll., Oxford, 1871-79, assistant master at Uppingham, 1873-87, Warden of Trinity Coll., Glenalmond, 1888-1902, and in 1903 became Vicar of Itchen Stoke, Hants. He published in 1899 Thirty Hymns for Public-School Singing, three of which have passed into the Public-School Hymn Book, 1903, and the Sunday School Hymnary, 1905.
