187. The Wonderful Jesus!

1 Have you heard of the wonderful Savior
Who dwelt on the earth among men,
And died on the cross for their ransom,
Then went back to heaven again?
Have you heard that his work of atonement,
Completed on Calvary’s tree,
Brings pardon and peace to the sinner,
And makes him eternally free?

Refrain:
O this wonderful, wonderful Jesus!
The bearer of guilt and of sin!
Today, in his free grace trusting,
The life of a Christian begin;
Today in his free grace trusting,
The life of a Christian begin.

2 Have you heard that, in dying for sinners,
He answered for me and for you,
Securing for us a full clearance,
And do you believe it all true?
Have you pardon and peace and assurance,
And do you with confidence know
That his blood has made sure your salvation,
And washes you whiter than snow? [Refrain]

3 O my brother! if you are not trusting
In Jesus, the bearer of sin,
If wide is the door of God’s mercy,
And you have not entered within,
Then today come and humbly confess him,
And go from this hallowed place
Redeemed from your guilt and transgressions,
A sinner renewed by his grace. [Refrain]
