96. Jesus, good above all other

1 Jesus, good above all other,
gentle child of gentle mother;
in a stable born our brother,
whom the angel hosts adore:

2 Jesus, cradled in a manger,
keep us free from sin and danger;
and to all, both friend and stranger,
give your blessing evermore.

3 Jesus, for your people dying,
risen master, death defying,
Lord of heaven, your grace supplying,
come to us — be present here!

4 Lord, in all our doings guide us:
pride and hate shall not divide us;
we'll go on with thee beside us,
and with joy we'll persevere.
