With kind and watchful eye
Is over the crucible bending,
His precious silver to try.

2 He watcheth for the moment,
While bright the metal clears,
When deep in the silver mirror
Undimm'd His image appears.

3 The great and skillful Master
Who melts the soul and mind
Is watching the heart with patience
While precious souls are refin'd.

4 And when undimm'd His image
Is mirror'd in the heart,
Rejoices the gentle Master
That crown'd is His noble art.
