Text: | Banner of the Cross |
Author: | R. L. |
Tune: | [We are soldiers in the army] |
Composer: | Robert Lowry |
1 We are soldiers in the army,
We have heard the Captain’s call;
He has given us a banner,
Which no evil can befall,—
While the host is marching on.
Refrain:
Let us come around the banner,
The banner of the cross, that will never suffer loss;
There is victory and glory
With the banner of the cross.
2 There’s a stir among the people
When the banner is display’d;
All the friends of truth are joyful,
All its enemies dismayed,—
While the host is marching on. [Refrain]
3 So we rally round the banner,
And our ranks will still increase,
For to ev’ry soul it carries
Life and love and joy and peace, —
While the host is marching on. [Refrain]
