Homer L. Cox (1879-1930) was a turn of the 20th century Quaker/Friends Church preacher. He covered most of the Midwest and a lot of the western United States. His ministry and writings were significant enough to merit a biography shortly after his death. Homer L. Cox: The Man and His Messages, was published by the Cleveland Bible Institute, © 1930. Cox was typical of a lot of “colorful” preachers and evangelists of that era, such as D.L. Moody and Billy Sunday. He once said that he, “Expressed gratitude for a friend receiving the Holy Ghost’s ‘embalming fluid’ from the great Undertaker in the skies.” As corny as that statement was Cox redeemed himself in 1907 with the words and music of this great testimony.
