Representative Text

1 We shall sing a sweet, new song,
When we join the ransom’d throng,
Just beyond the pearly gates;
We shall sigh or grieve no more
All our hardships will be o’er,
Just beyond the pearly gates.

Refrain:
Just beyond the pearly gates,
Rapture for the faithful waits,
Glad hosannas we shall raise in increasing strains of praise,
Just beyond the pearly gates.

2 Nevermore our souls will roam,
When we reach that happy home,
Just beyond the pearly gates;
Faces, hidden now, will smile
Tender welcome, after while,
Just beyond the pearly gates. [Refrain]

3 Christ our King we shall behold,
When the tale of life is told,
Just beyond the pearly gates;
Brighter than the noontide sun
He will smile, and say “well done,”
Just beyond the pearly gates [Refrain]
