Representative Text

1 ‘Tis sweet to have a faithful friend
On whom we ever may depend,
Whose love will last until the end,
And such a friend is Jesus.

Refrain:
Such a friend is Jesus,
Such a friend is Jesus;
Whatever may befall,
The truest friend of all
Is Jesus, blessed Jesus.

2 ‘Tis sweet to have a friend who cheers
Our spirits thro’ the trying years,
Who banishes our doubts and fears,
And such a friend is Jesus. [Refrain]

3 ‘Tis sweet to have a friend whose love
Doth every fear of death remove,
And fit us for the home above,
And such a friend is Jesus. [Refrain]

4 O heart of grief, O child of sin,
O burdened one, if you would win,
The best of friends, let Jesus in,
For such a friend is Jesus. [Refrain]
