Representative Text

1 Take up the Cross for Jesus,
And His disciple be,
And fight beneath His standard,
For Him right valiantly.

Refrain:
Bear the Cross for Jesus!
His disciple be!
And beneath His banner
Battle manfully.

2 Take up the Cross for Jesus,
And be a soldier true,
Remembering the sorrow
That he has borne for you. [Refrain]

3 Take up the Cross for Jesus,
And bear it bravely on,
And cease not in your service,
Till sets for thee life’s sun. [Refrain]

4 Take up the Cross for Jesus,
Despising all the shame,
Resolved whate’er oppose you,
His kingdom to proclaim. [Refrain]
