Representative Text

1 Stor, Jesus, er din Miskundhed,
For dig i Nød jeg falder ned,
Ak, lad mig finde Naade!
Jeg er et Faar, som farer vild,
Besværet af min Syndeskyld,
O, hjælp du mig af Vaade!

2 Ak Ve, at jeg var veget bort
Fra dig til Helveds aabne Port!
Giv, at jeg det begræder!
Før mig ind i din Faare-Sti,
Gjør mig fra Synd og Straffen fri,
Af Hjertet jeg det beder!

3 Ak, Jesus Krist, modtag du mig,
Og lad mig finde LY hos dig
Og Liv i dine Vunder!
Løs naadig mig af Syndens Baand,
Og styrk meig med din Helligaand
I alle Livsens Stunder!

His hymns are founded on the Gospels for Sundays and Festivals, and they draw out the bearing on the Christian life of the leading thoughts therein contained.
