Sing of A People

Representative Text

1 Sing of a people who come to rejoice,
praising God’s glory with one heart and voice,
praying for pardon, for strength, and for bread,
bringing their offerings that all may be fed.
We are this people! The church is our home.
Through us may Christ make the love of God known.

2 Sing of a people who, all their life long,
learn from the scriptures, the stories and song,
growing in faith through the life that they share,
catching the spirit of love that is there.
We are this people! The church is our home.
Through us may Christ make the love of God known.

3 Sing of a people who gratefully give
in want and plenty, that others may live,
showing compassion for people in need.
Faith without works is a poor faith indeed.
We are this people! The church is our home.
Through us may Christ make the love of God known.

4 Sing of a people who willingly bear
burdens of friends facing grief and despair,
sorrows of strangers who long for God’s grace,
holding them all in a caring embrace.
We are this people! The church is our home.
Through us may Christ make the love of God known.

5 Sing of a people who stand side by side,
welcoming strangers with arms opened wide,
offering them friendship, their very own place
here at the font and the table of grace.
We are this people! The church is our home.
Through us may Christ make the love of God known.
