The Time Will Not Be Long

Representative Text

1 O brother, is thy pathway drear?
Keep looking away to Jesus;
Lift up thy head, be of good cheer,
The time will not be long.

Refrain:
Keep looking away to Jesus,
The time will not be long.
Keep looking away to Jesus,
The time will not be long.

2 Tho' ev'ry trusted friend forsake,
Keep looking away to Jesus;
And trouble seems the heart would break,
The time will not be long. [Refrain]

3 Tho' kindred drive thee from their door,
Keep looking away to Jesus;
The suffering will heav'n make sure,
The time will not be long. [Refrain]

4 Although thou art despised and lone,
Keep looking away to Jesus;
Our Saviour loves us ev'ry one,
The time will not be long. [Refrain]

5 Tho' none will speak a word of cheer,
Keep looking away to Jesus;
The sympathetic Lord is near,
The time will not be long. [Refrain]

6 Our troubles but a day may last,
Keep looking away to Jesus;
The rougher way will soon be past,
The time will not be long. [Refrain]

7 There's glory in the heart-wrung tear,
Keep looking away to Jesus;
There's glory in each cross we bear,
The time will not be long. [Refrain]
