Representative Text

1 Many may strive in an earthly race,
But only one wins the victor’s place,
Lo, in the race for the crown of life,
Each one may win who endures the strife.

Refrain:
With a will that none can alter,
Fearing not the toil and strain,
Let us run, nor ever falter,
And the crown of life obtain.

2 Each against each in the earthly way,
Others must lose if we win the day;
One for another and each for all,
This is the rule in the heav’nly call. [Refrain]

3 This is the triumph of heav’nly grace,
Each wins a crown if he runs the race;
Songs of rejoicing fore’er ascend
Greetings for those who shall reach the end. [Refrain]
