1 Isten nevét dicsérd, szívem,
Mert kedves néki énekem
Minden új nap friss hajnalán,
S Őt áldom a nap alkonyán.

2 Déli imám vedd kedvesen,
Téged kereslek szívesen!
Dicséret, hálaáldozat
Mind egy-egy áldott pillanat.

3 A munka terhe bár nehéz:
A hálás szív pihenni kész.
Míg testem kurtán megpihen,
Könnyítsen hála terhemen!

4 Qldás legyen e perceken,
Mit Istennek készségesen
A munkám közben átadok,
Hű szívvel néki áldozok.

5 A munkahely így templomom,
Bárhol is töltöm a napom—
Megszentelt, áldott környezet:
Az Úrral minden hely lehet.

6 Nézd, ott fenn fut a szorgos Nap,
S már megtette a fél utat.
Sem meg nem áll, sem el nem tér—
Ó, ember—mint "ő"—, hűen élj!

7 Mióta fölkelt keleten,
Ha szent törvényed megszegtem,
Vedd újra kézbe, s Te urald,
Utamból mi mára marad!

8 Míg még tart röpke életem,
Kegyelmeddel, ó, légy velem!
Világos lesz így alkonyom,
És nálad lesz örök honom.

Author: William Wordsworth

Wordsworth, William, the poet, the son of an attorney, was born at Cockermouth in 1770, and educated at St. John's College, Cambridge, where he graduated B.A. in 1791. Devoting himself to literature, and especially to poetry, he gradually rose into the front rank of English poets. His works include Lyrical Ballads, 1798; Poems; The Prelude; The Excursion, 1814, &c. All his poetical productions were collected and republished under his own supervision in 7 vols., in 1842. He died at Kydal Mount, near Grasmere, in 1850.
