O Tarry for the Power

Representative Text

1 In the upper room they tarried,
Those lovers of the Lord.
Till they received the power
According to His word.

Refrain:
O tarry for the power,
Ye who believe His word,
Then go ye forth into all the earth
And witness for the Lord.

2 Deep rivers of salvation
Shall spring your soul within,
And flow out to the nations
Now perishing in sin. [Refrain]

3 Your joy will be eternal,
Your sun no more go down,
Here will be happy service
And there a victor's crown. [Refrain]

4 A rich and watered garden,
Your heart redeemed shall be;
From darkness, sin and error,
Your spirit shall be free; [Refrain]

5 O brother, wait for power;
The Lord will freely give
The fulness of the Spirt
To all who will receive. [Refrain]
