Representative Text

1 If you should ask me how the blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse,
And how His Spirit in the heart can dwell;
If you should ask me to explain how God His blessing sends,
I’m sure that I could never, never tell.

Refrain:
I don’t know how He does it,
I only know He does it,
He just comes in and cleanses every stain,
For sorrow and for sadness
He gives me joy and gladness.
I don’t know how He does it, but He does it,
Praise His name!

2 If you should ask me how the Spirit, witnessing within,
Can give assurance that I’m born again;
Can tell me that the precious blood has washed away my sin,
I’m sure that I could never make it plain. [Refrain]

3 But if you’d know, without a doubt, that all of this is true,
And if you’d have the Lord His peace impart,
Just come to Him believing, He will meet you if you do,
And you will understand it in your heart. [Refrain]
