Jesus is near

Representative Text

1 I am glad that so well the dear Savior I know,
That I fear not to take him my needs and my woe;
As my Helper, on him I have learned to depend,
And in all of my troubles I've found him a friend.

Chorus:
Yes, Jesus is near, yes, Jesus is near,
I only need whisper and Jesus can hear!
He hears when I pray; O how can I fear
When Jesus my Saviour is near?

2 I have been on the mount, in the wilderness, too,
And the Valley of Baca--I've traveled it thro';
But the valley was light and the desert was fair,
For I found that my Saviour was waiting me there. [Chorus]

3 I have been in the cloud; I have been in the dark;
On the deep, tossing sea with my frail, shallow bark;
But the cloud and the dark of the night disappear,
And the waters are quiet, for Jesus is near. [Chorus]

4 Thro' the heat of the day, from the earliest morn,
I have borne many burdens I could not have borne,
Had not Jesus, the dear, loving Savior, each day
Been my comfort and helper along the dark way. [Chorus]

5 I am glad, as we sail down the rough sea of life,
With the wind and the wave beating round us in strife,
There is One who is watching the rock and the shoal,
And will guide us all safe to the home of the soul. [Chorus]
