Representative Text

1 How tenderly He leadeth me,
My Shepherd all the day;
In meadows green He resteth me,
Where brook and fountain play.

Refrain:
The Lord is my Shepherd,
In Him I safely hide,
His rod and staff they comfort me,
What can I ask beside?

2 How tenderly He loveth me,
My tongue can never tell;
But O He gave His life for me,
And this I know full well. [Refrain]

3 How tenderly He calleth me,
When from the fold I roam;
He leaves me not, but patiently
He brings the wand’rer home. [Refrain]

4 How tenderly His gifts to me,
Like gently rain descend;
I’ll sing and praise Him joyfully,
My Shepherd, Saviour, Friend. [Refrain]
