Representative Text

1 God’s word abideth ever,
His promises stand fast;
Tho’ earth and heav’n may perish
His truth shall ever last.
Take then, for faiths foundation,
This Rock, “Thus saith the Lord!”
In life, and death still trust him,
And take him at his word,

Refrain:
Take him at his word,
Take him at his word;
His word can never fail thee,
O take him at his word.

2 O seeker of salvation
No longer sorrowing go;
Tho’ red, thy sins, like crimson
He’ll make them white as snow.
His blessed peace he’ll give thee,
With joy he’ll fill thy soul;—
“Thy sins are all forgiven,
The faith hath made thee whole.” [Refrain]

3 O weary heavy laden,
O soul by grief oppressed,
Heed now his invitation,
And come to him for rest.
He bids thee cast thy burden
On Him, Thy loving Lord,
And tell him all thy sorrow,
O take him at his word. [Refrain]

4 I come thou gracious Savior,
My self I give to thee,
Thine evermore, thine only,
For life or death to be.
O blessed, blessed, Jesus
My loving faithful Lord,
With all my soul I trust thee,
I take thee at thy word! [Refrain]
