Notes

Glory to God, the angel said. [Christmas.] Appeared anonymously in the 7th edition of the Silver Street Sunday Scholar's Companion, 1821, No. 6, in 5 stanzas of 4 lines. It was reprinted (without signature) in Miss D. A. Thrupp's Hymns for the Young, R. T. S., 4th edition, 1836, and on this ground it has been ascribed to her. Positive evidence that it was written by Miss Thrupp is wanting. It is in several modern collections for the young, including the Church Sunday School Hymn Book, 1868. [William T. Brooke]
