Notes

Far from my thoughts, vain world, depart. J. Conder. [Holy Communion.] Appeared in his Congregational Hymn Book, 1836, No. 148, in 6 stanzas of 4 lines, on the words, "He was known of them in breaking of bread." In this same form it was repeated in his work The Choir and the Oratory, 1837, p. 190; and again in his Hymns of Praise, Prayer, &c, 185&, p. 85. A rearrangement of this hymn, given in the Leeds Hymn Book, 1853, No. 727, is more popular than the original. It begins with stanza iii., "Lord, in this blest and hallowed hour," and is composed of stanzas iii., ii. and iv. Another arrangement is stanzas iii., ii., iv.-vi. This is in the Baptist Psalms & Hymns, 1858.
