Descend, immortal Dove. P. Doddridge. [Whitsuntide.] This hymn is No. xlvii. in the "D. MSS.," in 4 stanzas of 4 lines; is dated "Sept. 11, 1737," and headed, "The love of God shed abroad in the heart by the Spirit. Rom. v. 5." It was included in J. Orton's posthumous edition of Doddridge's Hymns, &c, 1755, No. 259, and again in J. D. Humphreys's edition of the same, 1839, No. 284.
