Come and be a Christian

Representative Text

1 Come and be a Christian,
Jesus calls thee now;
To his gracious gospel,
Sinner, humbly bow.
Hear his wondrous mercy
Tell of sins forgiven,
Vict'ry over Satan,
And a home in heaven.

Chorus:
O, won't you be a Christian!
Quickly make your choice;
Jesus now is pleading,
Hear his welcome voice!

2 Come and be a Christian,
Ere it be too late;
Life is passing swiftly,
Moments will not wait.
Jesus will not always
Open mercy's door;
When he comes in judgment,
Then he'll plead no more. [Chorus]

3 Come and be a Christian,
Meekly bear the cross,
For the love of Jesus,
Count all else but loss.
Never fading treasures
Are reserved for all
Who will come to Jesus,
And obey his call. [Chorus]

4 Come and be a Christian,
Fly from Satan's power,
To the chains of Jesus,
Yield this very hour.
Then with joy and rapture,
Singing as we go,
We will haste to glory,
Leaving all below. [Chorus]
