Representative Text

1 Caroling, caroling, all thro’ the night,
Music God’s love did inspire;
Angels from Glory are winging their flight,
Bright robed and golden that choir!

Refrain:
Hark, the herald angels,
In the heavenly choir,
Christmas glory chanting,
Striking harp and lyre!
Striking harp and lyre!

2 Glory, O glory, thus rang the glad strain,
Glory to God with sweet peace!
Mortals and sinners, Christ cometh to reign,
Sorrow and sighing shall cease. [Refrain]

3 Singing, O singing, blest angels so fair,
Melodies sweet and sublime!
Soothing the hearts that are weary with care,
Wafting glad tidings divine. [Refrain]

4 Carol, then carol, for holy the joy,
Flowing from Jesus the King;
Voices, ten thousand, come, glad notes employ,
Gloria, Gloria sing! [Refrain]
