All o'er the world I sought in vain

Representative Text

1 All o'er the world I sought in vain
For Peace and Hope and Light;
I sought to lose my guilt and stain
And wash my garments white.

2 But not in pleasure wild–ah, no–
Nor yet in deepest grief;
'Mongst rich or poor, 'mongst high or low,
Could I secure relief.

3 "I am a wretch undone," I cried,
"Ah whither shall I flee?"
A sweet voice said, "In Christ abide
And lose the misery."

4 In tears to Calvary I ran,
And fell at Jesus' feet:
There Peace and Hope and Light began
And made my life complete.

AMEN.
