Representative Text

1 After the shadows cometh the sunshine;
After the night beams the morning star;
After a sadness comes joy and gladness;
After the battle, peace that naught can mar.

Chorus:
After the shadows cometh the sunshine;
After the sorrow joy will come;
After the toiling comes rest from labor;
After the journey cometh home, sweet home.

2 After the tempest calm will enfold you;
After the tears hope will sing its song;
After the trials will come a blessing;
After temptation, triumph over wrong. [Chorus]

3 After the cross the crown will be given;
After the toil come the great reward;
After the journey comes home and heaven,
Where we shall dwell forever with the Lord. [Chorus]
