Representative Text

1 Onward march we ‘neath the royal banner,
Soldiers of the heav’nly King;
Singing now to God our glad hosanna,
All our ranks with music ring.

Refrain:
Glory be to God, Hallelujah!
Glory be to God, to God on high!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Shout aloud the battle cry.

2 Onward march we, needful weapons bearing
For life’s long great battle-day;
Each the other’s heavy burden sharing,
Thus we journey on our way. [Refrain]

3 Onward march, nor faltering nor fearing,
God’s pure word our trusty sword;
On our banner, lo! the name appearing,
Of our Captain, Christ the Lord. [Refrain]

4 Glorious banner! great and mighty Saviour!
Victor over ev’ry foe,
We today would seek Thy loving favor;
Where Thou leadest we will go. [Refrain]
