Representative Text

1 Have mercy on me, Thou Son of God,
Restore unto me my sight,—
It’s all so dark, so very dark,
Even day is as dark as night.

O Jesus, I come to Thee,
O Jesus, I come to Thee,
Touch Thou my blight and restore my sight,
O Jesus, I come to Thee.

2 My heart too is dark, and filled with doubt,
No joy or peace is mine;
But all can be changed to glorious light,
At the sound of Thy voice divine.

O Jesus, I come to Thee,
O Jesus, I come to Thee,
Touch Thou my heart and Thy grace impart,
O Jesus, I come to Thee.

3 Thou Spirit of God, come into my heart,
And help me to fill my life
With noble tho’ts and loving deeds,
As I go thro’ this world of strife.

O Jesus, I come to Thee,
O Jesus, I come to Thee,
Fill me this hour with Thy love and pow’r,
O Jesus, I come to Thee.

4 Mine eyes have been opened! to God be the praise;
The light of His love now I see;
Lord, help me to teach transgressors Thy way,
And point them above to Thee.

O Jesus, I’ll follow Thee,
O Jesus, I’ll follow Thee,
I have my sight and I see the light,
O Jesus, I’ll follow Thee.
