Jane Marshall

1924 - 2019 Person Name: Jane Manton Marshall (b. 1924) Hymnal Title: Wonder, Love, and Praise Composer of "SHOSHANA" in Wonder, Love, and Praise Jane Marshall, was born Jane Anne Manton in Dallas in 1924. She became a pianist and organist and composed music as a teenager. She earned a music degree in 1945 from SMU. She married Elbert Marshall. She went on to write more than 200 hymns and other sacred music works. She later earned a Masters degree in 1968 from SMU in choral conducting and composition. She taught at SMU's Perkins School of Theology and tis Church Music Summer School from 1975-2010. She attended Northaven United Methodist Church in Dallas for many years, collaborated often with other hymn writers, and encouraged many students. Charles Lockhart

1745 - 1815 Person Name: Charles Lockhart (1745-1815) Hymnal Title: Wonder, Love, and Praise Composer of "CARLISLE" in Wonder, Love, and Praise Born: 1745, London, England. Died: February 9, 1815, London, England. Lockhart was first organist of the Lock Hospital, and was for some years associated with Martin Madan in the musical arrangements there. Though blind from infancy, Lockhart had a distinct musical gift, and was especially known for training children’s choirs. His earliest tunes were printed on separate sheets. He published a set of hymn tunes about 1810.
