490. I Have Found a Ransom

1 When near to the grave draws the soul of man,
And destroyers his life would seize;
When sick on his bed, chastened sorely with pain,
He wasteth away with disease;
If a messenger, then Jehovah can find,
A messenger holy and true,
To show God's uprightness to him in distress,
He'll save him, his life he'll renew.

Refrain:
I have found a ransom, saith Jehovah;
Deliver him forever from the pit of hell;
I have found a ransom,
Deliver him, for all is well.

2 O how blessed to know that our soul is free,
That our burden of guilt is gone,
How blessed accepted with heaven to be,
At peace with the great Holy One;
When the Spirit within His witness doth bear
That you have been born again,
O how blessed to know that on Calvary's tree,
Our Saviour for us bore the pain. [Refrain]

3 Yes, our lives are redeemed, for the debt is paid,
And old Satan his pow'r has lost;
All our sins, all our guilt on the Lord has been laid,
On Calvary He paid the full cost;
And if we of our sin will meekly repent,
And in Him decide to believe,
Our God will adopt us as sons of His love,
And whate'er we ask we'll receive. [Refrain]
