428. He's Coming Back Again

1 When Christ was in the upper room
Before He went away,
To those who sat at meat with Him,
He said: “I will not stay,
But if I go I’ll come again,
Where I am, you shall be;
I will prepare a place for you,
And take you home with me.”

Chorus:
He’s coming back again,
He’s coming back again,
He went away but not to stay,
He’s coming back again;
He’s coming back again,
He’s coming back again,
He went away, but not to stay,
He’s coming back again.

2 Two men in white stood on the mount
As Jesus went on high,
They said, “Why gaze ye after Him,
He’s coming bye and bye;
Like as you see Him go away,
In person, through the air,
Just so the bridegroom soon will come,
To meet His bride up there.” [Chorus]

3 So we must watch and wait till when,
His presence in the skies,
Makes heaven glow from East to West;
The dead in Christ arise;
And those who walk and talk with God,
He’ll gather round the throne,
Then we will go with all that throng
When Jesus claims His own. [Chorus]

4 This age of sin is almost o’er,
Its horrors soon will cease,
The Son of God will soon appear,
To reign in perfect peace;
And even so, Lord Jesus, come,
Yea, ever so, Amen;
And let Thy coming quickly be,
We welcome Thee again. [Chorus]
