11968. Christian, The Morn Breaks

1 Christian, the morn breaks sweetly o’er thee,
And all the midnight shadows flee;
Tinged are the distant skies with glory,
A beacon light hung out for thee.

Refrain:
Arise! arise! the light breaks o’er thee;
Thy name is graven on the throne;
Thy home is in the world of glory,
Where thy Redeemer reigns alone.

2 Tossed on the dark, proud waves of ocean,
Calmly composed, undaunted be;
’Midst the fierce tempest’s dread commotion,
Thy God doth still remember thee. [Refrain]

3 Christian, behold! the land is nearing,
And the wild sea storm’s rage is o’er;
List to the heav’nly hosts now cheering;
See in what throngs they range the shore. [Refrain]

4 Cheer up! Cheer up! The light breaks o’er thee,
Bright as the summer’s noontide ray;
The starry crown in realms of glory;
Invites the happy soul away.

Refrain:
Away! Away! leave all for glory,
Thy name is graven on the throne;
Thy home is in the world of glory,
Where thy Redeemer reigns alone.
