Ernest G. Wellesley-Wesley
Person Name: Rev. Ernest G. W. Wesley Author of "Our Evening Hymn" in Standard Hymns and Spiritual Songs Ernest G. W. Wesley was born and educated in England. At the age of seventeen he started writing for local newspapers. When he was twenty-two he worked as special correspondent for The New York Times in Buenos Aries. While he was in Buenos Aries he became licensed to preach in the Methodist Episcopal Church. He came to the United States in the early 1870's and continued writing and contributing to religious and secular papers. He wrote between five and six hundred hymns and nearly two thousand articles on religious and theological topics.

1866 - 1935 Composer of "[Our evening hymn to Thee, O God we raise]" in Standard Hymns and Spiritual Songs Born: September 7, 1867, Ohio.
Died: May 25, 1935, Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Buried: Home of Peace Cemetery, Porterville, California.
Son of Samuel F. Butts & Hannah Colton, Benjamin studied music at a young age. He started in business in Kansas City, but entered the evangelism field in 1888. He married three times: To Eva Grace Lambright (1867-1941), Mary Emma Rawlings (1869-1919), and Onna Barrett Mills (1896-1963). His works include:
