He attended Amherst College (AB 1898) and Yale Divinity School (BD 1901). He was ordained as a Congregational minister and pastored churches in Southington, Connecticut (1901-04); East Orange, New Jersey (1904-15); and at the Euclid Avenue Congregational Church, Cleveland, Ohio, from 1915 until retirement. Joel Navarro

b. 1955 Topics: Jesus Christ Healer Arranger of "[Give thanks for God is gracious]" in Psalms for All Seasons Joel Navarro (b. 1955) is a professor of music at Singapore Bible College. Until 2014 he taught at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, teaching conducting and directing campus choirs. As the recipient of numerous awards in performance and education in his native Philippines, he is widely known as a conductor, educator, clinician, lecturer, writer, singer, recording artist, composer, arranger, stage actor, record producer, and music consultant. An active performer of music from different eras and ethnic traditions, he takes an ardent interest in post modern music and the music traditions and liturgies of the world. Navarro earned a master of music degree in choral conducting from the University of the Philippines and a doctor of musical arts degree in conducting at Michigan State University. He is known internationally as the former music director and conductor of the Ateneo de Manila University Glee Club, which has amassed a string of top prizes during the past 20 years in choral competitions worldwide. Ian Pitt-Watson

1921 - 1995 Person Name: Ian Pitt-Watson, 1923-1995 Topics: Jesus Christ Healer Author of "You Are Before Me, Lord" in Psalms for All Seasons Ian Pitt-Watson (b. Glasgow, Scotland, 1923; d. London, England, January 11, 1995) was educated at the University of Edinburgh and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London. Ordained to the Presbyterian ministry in 1950, he served the Cathedral Church of St. Giles in Edinburgh, Scotland (the church where John Knox had been preacher). From 1952 to 1958 he was chaplain of the University of Aberdeen and later served congregations in Dundee and Glasgow. He returned to teach at Aberdeen in 1974 before moving in 1980 to become professor of preaching and practical theology at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California, where he remained until retirement. Pitt-Watson was a highly regarded scholar, expositor, and preacher in both Europe and North America. Among his published works are Preaching: a Kind of Folly (1976) and A Primer for Preachers (1986).
