My Savior, on the word of truth

Author: A. L. Waring Meter: 8.6.8.6 Appears in 17 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 130:5 Lyrics: My Savior, on the word of truth In earnest hope I live; I ask for all the precious things Thy boundless love can give. I look for many a lesser light About my path to shine; But chiefly long to walk with Thee, And only trust in Thine. In holy expectation held, Thy strength my heart shall stay, For Thy right hand will never let My trust be cast away. Yea, Thou hast kept me near Thy feet, In many a deadly strife, By the stronghold of hope in Thee, The hope of endless life. Thou knowest that I am not blest As Thou wouldst have me be, Till all the peace and joy of faith Possess my soul in Thee And still I seek 'mid many fears, With yearnings unexpressed, The comforts of Thy strengthening love, Thy soothing, settling rest. It is not as Thou wilt with me, Till, humbled in the dust; I know no place in all my heart Wherein to put my trust. Until I find, O Lord, in Thee, The Lowly and the Meek, That fulness which Thy own redeemed Go nowhere else to seek. Then, O my Savior, on my soul, Cast down, but not dismayed, Still be Thy chastening, healing hand In tender, mercy laid. And while I wait for all Thy joys, My yearning heart to fill, Teach me to walk and work with Thee, And at Thy feet sit still.

At Thy Feet I Fall

Author: Catherine Booth-Clibborn Meter: 11.10.11.12.5.5.6.6 Appears in 17 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 130:6 First Line: O Lamb of God! Thou wonderful sin-bearer Lyrics: 1 O Lamb of God! Thou wonderful sin-bearer, Hard after Thee my soul doth follow on; As pants the hart for streams in desert dreary, So pants my soul for Thee, O Thou life-giving One. Refrain: At Thy feet I fall, Yield Thee up my all, To suffer, live, or die For my Lord crucified. 2 I mourn, I mourn the sin that drove Thee from me, And blackest darkness brought into my soul; Now I renounce the cursed sin that hindered, And come once more to Thee, to be made fully whole. [Refrain] 3 Descend the heav’ns, Thou whom my soul adoreth! Oh, come just now, fill my poor longing breast; For Thee, for Thee, I watch, as for the morning! Apart from Thee, I find neither joy, peace, nor rest. [Refrain] 4 Come, Holy Ghost, Thy mighty aid bestowing, Destroy the works of sin, the self, the pride; Burn, burn in me, my idols overthrowing; Prepare my heart for Him—for my Lord crucified. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [O Lamb of God! Thou wonderful sin-bearer] Text Sources: Timeless Truths (http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/At_Thy_Feet_I_Fall); The Salvation Army, Songs and Music, 1922 (144); Gordon Avery; Companion to the Song Book of The Salvation Army, ed.1970

As water to the thirsty

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith, 1926- Appears in 15 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 130:5-6 Lyrics: 1 As water to the thirsty, as beauty to the eyes, as strength that follows weakness, as truth instead of lies, as song-time and spring-time and summer-time to be, so is my Lord, my living Lord, so is my Lord to me. 2 Like calm in place of clamour, like peace that follows pain, like meeting after parting, like sunshine after rain, like moonlight and starlight and sunlight on the sea, so is my Lord, my living Lord, so is my Lord to me. 3 As sleep that follows fever, as gold instead of grey, as freedom after bondage, as sunrise to the day, as home to the traveller and all we long to see, so is my Lord, my living Lord, so is my Lord to me. Topics: Freedom / Liberation; One Life in Christ Faith; Strength; Truth; Water Used With Tune: OASIS
