We All Believe in One True God

Author: Martin Luther, 1483-1546 Meter: 8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8 Appears in 10 hymnals Scripture: John 16:13-15 Lyrics: 1 We all believe in one true God, who created earth and heaven, the Father, who to us in love has the right of children given. He in soul and body feeds us; all we need his hand provides us; through all snares and perils leads us, watching that no harm betide us. He cares for us by day and night; all things are governed by his might. 2 We all believe in Jesus Christ, his own Son, our Lord, possessing an equal Godhead, throne, and might, source of ev'ry grace and blessing; born of Mary, virgin mother, by the power of the Spirit, made true man, our elder brother, that the lost might life inherit, was crucified for all our sin and raised by God to life again. 3 We all confess the Holy Ghost, who, in highest heaven dwelling with the God the Father and the Son, comforts us beyond all telling; who the Church, his own creation, keeps in unity of spirit; here forgiveness and salvation daily come through Jesus' merit. All flesh shall rise, and we shall be in bliss with God eternally. Used With Tune: WIR GLAUBEN ALL (Chant) Text Sources: Tr.: The Lutheran Hymnal, 1941, alt.

Come, O Spirit, Dwell Among Us

Author: Janie Alford Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Appears in 5 hymnals Scripture: John 16:7-15 Lyrics: 1 Come, O Spirit, dwell among us; come with Pentecostal power; give the church a stronger vision; help us face each crucial hour. Built upon a firm foundation, Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone, still the church is called to mission that God's love shall be made known. 2 We would raise our alleluias for the grace of yesteryears; for tomorrow's unknown pathway, hear, O Lord, our humble prayers. In the church's pilgrim journey you have led us all the way; still in presence move before us, fire by night and cloud by day. 3 Come, O Spirit, dwell among us; give us words of fire and flame. Help our feeble lips to praise you, glorify your holy name. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Three in One: what mystery! We would sing our loud hosannas now and through eternity. God's Holy Spirit Came

Author: Mary Jackson Cathey, b. 1926; Michael Denham, b. 1955 Meter: 6.6.8.4 D Appears in 3 hymnals Scripture: John 16:7-15 Lyrics: 1 God's Holy Spirit came with rushing wind and fire, Christ's presence here to comfort, bless, and to inspire. The Spirit thus began God's holy work on earth at Pentecost, a gift that gave the Church its birth. 2 God sent the Spirit forth, fulfilling prophets' word, to those who followed Jesus and who called him Lord. And as disciples met near temple courts for prayer the Spirit blew and rested on those gathered there. 3 God's Spirit filled each one, as Jesus had foretold. In many tongues they spoke God's Word, renewed and bold. "Repent and be baptized," preached Peter in that hour, and thousands came believing by the Spirit's pow'r. 4 God's Church alive today continues to proclaim salvation by the Spirit's pow'r in Jesus' name. Let all believers now their tongues and lives employ. Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, our highest joy! Topics: Day of Pentecost Used With Tune: YIGDAL
