The triumphant Song of Moses

Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Exodus 15 First Line: I to the Lord will sing Lyrics: 1 I to the Lord will sing, for he Triumph'd in glory so; He both the horse and rider down Into the sea did throw. 2 Jah is my strength and song, and he Is my salvation: He is my God, I'11 him prepare An habitation. My father's God he is also, I'll him exalt: the same 3 Jehovah is a man of war, Jehovah is his name. 4 He Pharaoh's chariots and his host Into the sea hath cast. His chosen captains drowned were As the red fen they pass'd, 5 The depths them hid, to th' bottom they Like as a stone sunk down. 6 Jehovah, thy right hand in pow'r Most glorious is renown'd. Lord, thy right hand in pieces dash'd Those that against thee rose. 7 And in thy excellency great, Thou haft o'erthrown thy foes. Thou did'st send forth thy wrath, which as The stubble did them waste. 8 Together gather'd were the waves Ev'n with thy nostrils blast: The floods stood upright as an heap, The depths in mid-sea froze. 9 The foe said, I'll pursue, I'll take, I will the spoil dispose. My lust on them shall filled be, My sword draw out will I: My hand shall them again possess, Or wholly them destroy. 10 Thou with thy wind didst on them blow, The sea them covered soon: They in the mighty waters sunk, Like lead sunk quickly down. [2] 11 Lord, who's like thee among the gods, Who like thee, glorious In holiness, fearful in praise, In doings marvellous! 12 When thou didst forth thy right hand stretch The earth them swallowed. 13 The people whom thou hast redeemed, Thou hast in mercy led. Thou by thy strength shalt guide them to That holy seat of thine. 14 The folk shall hear and fear, and grieve Shall they of Palestine. 15 Then Edom's dukes shall be amaz'd, And Moab's mighty men Trembling shall seize, away shall melt All Canaan's dwellers then. 16 Fear upon them and dread shall fall By thine arm's mightiness. They like a stone shall quiet lie, Until thy people pass: Until thy people Lord shall pass Which thou hast purchased: 17 Till thou hast brought them in, and in Thy mount established. The mount of thine inheritance, O Lord, the place wherein Thou hast prepar'd thy sanctuary For thee to dwell therein: Which thy hands, Lord, establish'd have. 18 Jehovah he shall reign; For evermore, through ages all, For ever sovereign. 19 For Pharaoh's horse and chariots his And horsemen down they went Into the sea, Jehovah then The sea upon them sent. 20 The waters of the sea on them He turned back in haste, But on dry land thro' midst of sea The sons of Isra'l pass'd. Miriam's Answer: 21 Sing ye unto the Lord, for he Triumph'd in glory so, He both the horse and rider down Into the sea did throw

The Song of Moses

Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Exodus 15 First Line: I'll sing the Triumphs of the Lord Lyrics: 1. I'll sing the Triumphs of the Lord, Who's glorious in Renown; The Horse, and him that rode thereon, He in the Sea hath thrown. 2. The Lord's my Strength, my Song, Defence, My God; for him I'll raise A Mansion; he my Father's God, I'll celebrate his Praise. 3. The Lord is the great God of War; Jehovah is his Name. 4. Proud Pharoah's glit'ring Cars, and Host, That to the Ravage came, In the Red Sea he cast; there were His chosen Captains drown'd. 5. The Depths o'er whelm'd them; like a Stone, They sank in the Profound. 6. The mighty Pow'r of thy Right-hand, O Lord, most glorious shows; Thy Right-hand, Lord, in Pieces dash'd The proud insulting Foes. 7. Excelling Greatness those o'er throw Against Thee who presum'd; Thou sendest forth thy flaming Wrath, Which them, as Chaff, consum'd. 8. Thy Nostril's Blast the Waters drove Together in an Heap; They stood upright, in the Mid-sea Congealed was the Deep. 9. The En'my cry'd, Pursue, o'ertake, I will the Spoil divide; I'll draw my Sword, and them destroy. Till Lust is satisfy'd. 10. But thou, with thy strong Wind, didst blow, The deep Sea o'er them spread; In mighty Waters down they sank, As if they had been Lead. 11. Who, Lord, 's like Thee, among the Gods? Thy Holiness exceeds In Glory; fearful is thy Praise, And wonderful thy Deeds. 12. Thou stretched'st out thy strong Right-hand, The Earth them swallow'd quite. 13. In Mercy thou led'st forth thy Flock, Which thou redeem'dst with Might: And thou did'st guide them, in thy Strength, Unto thine holy Hill. 14. Nations shall hear, and fear, and Dread Seize Palestina will. 15. Then Edom's Dukes shall be amaz'd, Moab's mighty Men be struck With Terror: Canaan's Hearts shall melt, As the dissolved Brook. 16. Thro' Fear, and Dread, of thy great Pow'r, Still, as a Stone, they'll ly: Until thy People, Lord, which thou Hast purchas'd, shall pass by. 17. Thou shalt conduct, and plant them, where Thy Mountain rears it's Head; The Place, for thy fix'd Residence, Which thou, O Lord, hast made: The chosen holy Place thine Hand, O Lord, hath settled fast. 18. Thy Reign, O thou eternal King! Forevermore shall last. 19. For Pharaoh's Chariots, Horse, and Men, Thro' Seas audacious went; And the returning Waves in Rage, The Lord upon them sent: But Isr'el's Race, a num'rous Host, Under divine Command, Walk'd thro' the Midst of dang'rous Seas, Securely on dry Land. Miriams Answer 21. Sing ye the Triumphs of the Lord, Who's glorious in Renown; The Horse, and him that rode thereon, He in the Sea hath thrown.

How shall we sing salvation's song

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith (b. 1926) Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Exodus 15 Lyrics: 1 How shall we sing salvation's song when justice stands denied, when greed and tyranny and wrong prevail on every side? Shall silent fall our voice of praise, as on the willows hung the harps that told of happier days when songs of home were sung? 2 Yet still we sing as Moses sang beside the parted wave, when Canaan's skies in triumph rang to God the strong to save. We too in psalms like David sing, as David's faith we claim, who sang as shepherd-boy and king of God's eternal name. 3 And we have blessings more than they in Christ our risen Lord, himself our Life and Truth and Way, his Spirit on us poured. For ours the cross where Jesus died, the love that bore our sins; to him, enthroned and glorified, salvation's song begins. Topics: Blessing; Jesus Names and images for; Justice; Justice and Peace; Music and Song Used With Tune: LLANGARRON
