To God Who Gave the Scriptures

Author: Timothy Dudley-Smith (b. 1926) Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Luke 24:13-35 Lyrics: 1 To God who gave the scriptures we bring our thanks today for light upon life's journey, a lamp to lead the way; a sword to face the tempter, a seed of life divine, a glimpse of heaven's glory upon our souls to shine. 2 To God who gave the scriptures we sing salvation songs, for laws of truth and judgment to right our human wrongs; a word to stand forever, which faith and light impart, a fire of love unchanging to burn within our hearts. 3 To God who gave the scriptures we come with love and praise for all the gospel stories of Galilean days, the words of grace and mercy, the cross and all its pains as now in risen splendor the King of glory reigns. 4 To God who gave the scriptures we turn in faith to find a taste of honeyed sweetness to nourish heart and mind; the promise of salvation, the covenant restored, the apostolic witness that Jesus is the Lord. 5 To God who gave the scriptures we lift our souls in prayer, for eyes the Spirit opens to find the treasures there; that as we read and ponder one voice alone is heard, the Christ of all the scriptures, the true and living Word. Ho bela paska tag'

Author: George Ratcliffe Woodward; Adolf Burkhardt Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Luke 24:36 First Line: Ho bela paska tag'! Nun paŝu, hom', al belo! Lyrics: 1. Ho bela paska tag'!
