God is here! As we his people

Author: Fred Pratt Green (1903-2000) Hymnal: Ancient and Modern #445 (2013) Meter: 8.7.8.7 D Topics: Dedication Festival; Adoration; Baptism; Belief; Change; Children; Church Ministry; Church nature of; Church Universal; Dedication of buildings; Dedication of people; Discipleship; Doubt; Faith; Holy Communion; Other Saints and Festivals Dedication Festival; Renewal; The Third Sunday before Lent Year A Lyrics: 1 God is here! As we his people meet to offer praise and prayer, may we find in fuller measure what it is in Christ we share. Here, as in the world around us, all our varied skills and arts wait the coming of his Spirit into open minds and hearts. 2 Here are symbols to remind us of our lifelong need of grace; here are table, font and pulpit; here the cross has central place. Here in honesty of preaching, here in silence, as in speech, here, in newness and renewal, God the Spirit comes to each. 3 Here our children find a welcome in the Shepherd's flock and fold, here, as bread and wine are taken, Christ sustains us as of old. Here the servants of the Servant seek in worship to explore what it means in daily living to believe and to adore. 4 Lord of all, of Church and Kingdom, in an age of change and doubt, keep us faithful to the gospel, help us work your purpose out. Here, in this day's dedication, all we have to give, receive: we, who cannot live without you, we adore you! We believe! Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:27-31 Languages: English Tune Title: EVERTON

Lord, Who at Thy First Eucharist

Author: William H. Turton, 1859-1938 Hymnal: Glory and Praise (3rd. ed.) #476 (2015) Meter: 10.10.10.10.10.10 Topics: Church; Church; Church; Saints; Unity; Service Music for Mass Eucharistic Hymn; Sunday Celebrations in the Absence of a Priest Eucharistic Hymn; The Liturgical Year Thursday of the Lord's Supper at the Evening Mass; The Liturgical Year The Most Holy Trinity; The Liturgical Year The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi); The Liturgical Year All Saints (November 1); The Liturgical Year The Dedication of teh Lateran Basilica (November 9) First Line: Lord, who at thy first Eucharist did pray Lyrics: 1 Lord, who at thy first Eucharist did pray That all thy Church might be forever one, Grant us at ev'ry Eucharist to say With longing heart and soul, "Thy will be done." O may we all one bread, one body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity. *1 At that first Eucharist before you died, O Lord, you prayed that all be one in you; At this our Eucharist again preside, And in our hearts your law of love renew. O may we all one bread, one body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity. 2 For all thy Church, O Lord, we intercede; Make thou our sad divisions soon to cease; Draw us the nearer each to each we plead, By drawing all to thee, O Prince of Peace; Thus may we all one bread, one body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity. 3 We pray thee, too, for wand'rers from thy fold; O bring them back, Good Shepherd of the sheep, Back to the faith which saints believed of old, Back to the Church which still that faith doth keep; Soon may we all one bread, one body be, Through this blest Sacrament of Unity. 4 So, Lord, at length when sacraments shall cease, May we be one with all thy Church above, One with thy saints in one unbroken peace, One with thy saints in one unbounded love; More blessed still in peace and love to be One with the Trinity in Unity. Christ Is Our Cornerstone

Author: John Chandler Hymnal: Moravian Book of Worship #517 (1995) Meter: 6.6.6.6.8.8 Topics: Church--Dedication of a building Lyrics: 1 Christ is our cornerstone, on him alone we build; with his true saints alone the courts of heav'n are filled; on his great love our hopes we place, of present grace and joys above. 2 O then with hymns of praise these hallowed courts shall ring: our voices we will raise the Three in One to sing, and thus proclaim in joyful song, both loud and long that glorious name. 3 Here, gracious God, do now for evermore draw near, accept each faithful vow, and ev'ry suppliant hear. In copious show'r on all who pray each holy day your blessings pour! 4 Here may we gain from heav'n the grace which we implore; and may that grace, once giv'n, be with us evermore, until that day when all the blessed to endless rest are called away! The Church's One Foundation

Author: Samuel J. Stone Hymnal: The United Methodist Hymnal #545 (1989) Meter: 7.6.7.6 D Topics: Church Dedication of a Building Lyrics: 1. The church's one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord; she is his new creation by water and the Word. From heaven he came and sought her to be his holy bride; with his own blood he bought her, and for her life he died. 2. Elect from every nation, yet one o'er all the earth; her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth; one holy name she blesses, partakes one holy food, and to one hope she presses, with every grace endued. 3. Though with a scornful wonder we see her sore oppressed, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed, yet saints their watch are keeping; their cry goes up, "How long?" And soon the night of weeping shall be the morn of song. 4. Mid toil and tribulation, and tumult of her war, she waits the consummation of peace forevermore; till, with the vision glorious, her longing eyes are blest, and the great church victorious shall be the church at rest. 5. Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three in One, and mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won. O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with thee. Languages: English Tune Title: AURELIA

Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation

Author: John Mason Neale Hymnal: The United Methodist Hymnal #559 (1989) Meter: 8.7.8.7.8.7 Topics: Church Dedication of a Building Lyrics: 1. Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone; chosen of the Lord and precious, binding all the church in one; holy Zion's help forever, and her confidence alone. 2. To this temple, where we call thee, come, O Lord of Hosts, today! With thy faithful loving-kindness hear thy people as they pray, and thy fullest benediction shed within its walls alway. 3. Here vouchsafe to all thy servants what they ask of thee to gain; what they gain from thee forever with the blessed to retain, and hereafter in thy glory evermore with thee to reign. 4.
