Happy Home

Hymnal: Gospel Jewels #121 (1890) First Line: There is a land of pure delight Refrain First Line: Happy home, happy home Lyrics: 1 There is a land of pure delight, Where saints immortal reign, Infinite day excludes the night, And pleasures banish pain. Refrain: Happy home, happy home, Beyond beyond the glowing sky; Happy home, happy home, Where pleasures never die. 2 There everlasting spring abides, And never with’ring flowers; Death, like a narrow sea, divides This heavenly land from ours. [Refrain] 3 Sweet fields, beyond the swelling flood, Stand dressed in living green; So to the Jews old Canaan stood, While Jordan rolled between. There is a land of pure delight

Author: Dr. Isaac Watts, 1674-1748 Hymnal: Methodist Hymn and Tune Book #554b (1917) Lyrics: 1 There is a land of pure delight, Where saints immortal reign; Infinite day excludes the night, And pleasures banish pain. There everlasting spring abides, And never-withering flowers; Death, like a narrow sea, divides This heavenly land from ours. 2 Sweet fields beyond the swelling flood Stand dressed in living green; So to the Jews old Canaan stood, While Jordan rolled between. But timorous mortals start and shrink To cross this narrow sea; And linger, shiv'ring on the brink, And fear to launch away. 3 O could we make our doubts remove, Those gloomy thoughts that rise, And see the Canaan that we love With unbeclouded eyes! Could we but climb where Moses stood, And view the landscape o'er, Not Jordan's stream, nor death's cold flood, Should fright us from the shore. Topics: Canaan, the heavenly; Heaven Glory of; Heaven Joys of; Heaven Land of pure delight; The Christian Life Time, Death, Eternity; Joy In Heaven Languages: English Tune Title: NORSEMAN
