Appears in 2 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 146 Lyrics: 1 Sing HALLELUJAH! praise the LORD, 2 I'll praise JEHOVAH all my days: O thou my soul! I'll to my God, While I a being have, sing praise. 3 Trust not in princes, nor mens sons, Who can no succour to you send; 4 Their breath expires, to earth they turn, And all their thoughts that moment end. 5 O bless'd is he who hath the God Of Jacob for his constant aid; Whose lively confidence upon, The LORD his God is firmly stay'd. 6 Who heav'n, earht, sea, all in them made; Who ever doth his truth make good; 7 Who for th' oppressed judgment does; And kindly gives the hungry food. 8 JEHOVAH sets the prisoners free, JEHOVAH sight gives to the blind, The LORD lifts up the bowed down, The LORD is to the righteous kind. 9 The LORD the strangers doth preserve, The widows and the orphans raise; But He of them who wicked are Intirely overthrows the ways. 10 The LORD shall reign for evermore; Thy mighty God, O Zion, He To generations all shall reign: Therefore sing HALLELUJAH, ye

Lauda anima

Author: J. H. Appears in 2 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 146 First Line: My soul praise thou the Lord alwaies Lyrics: 1 My soul praise thou the Lord alwaies, my God I will confesse: 2 While breath and life prolong my daies my tongue no time shall cease. 3 Trust not in worldly Princes then, though they abound in wealth: Nor in the sonnes of mortall men, in whom there is no health. 4 For why? Their breath doth soon depart, to earth anon they fall, And then the counsels of their heart decay and perish all. 5 O happy is that man I say, whom Jacob's God doth aid: And he whose hope doth not decay, but on the Lord is staid. 6 Which made the earth and waters deep, the heavens high withall: Which doth his word and promise keep and loose the fetters strong. 7 With right alwaies doth he proceed for such as suffer wrong: The poore and hungry he doth feed, and loose the fetters strong. 8 The Lord doth send the blind their sight, the lame to limbs restore: The Lord (I say) doth love the right, and just man evermore. 9 He doth defend the fatherlesse, and stranger sad in heart: And quit the widow from distresse, and ill mens ways subvert. 10 The Lord thy God eternally O Sion still shall raigne: In time of all posterity for ever to remaine.

Author: Isaac Watts Meter: 8.8.8.8 Appears in 1,793 hymnals Scripture: Psalm 146:5-9 First Line: Jesus shall reign where’er the sun Lyrics: 1 Jesus shall reign where’er the sun does its successive journeys run. His realm shall stretch from shore to shore, till moons shall wax and wane no more. 2 For him shall endless prayer be made, and praises throng to crown his head. His name, like sweet perfume, shall rise with ev'ry morning sacrifice. 3 People and realms of ev’ry tongue dwell on his love with sweetest song, and infant voices shall proclaim their early blessings on his name. 4 Blessings abound where’er Christ reigns; and pris’ners leap to loose their chains, the weary find eternal rest, and all who suffer want are bless’d. 5 Let ev’ry creature rise and bring each its peculiar praise to sing; angels descend with songs again, and earth repeat the loud amen! The Savior promised long! Let ev’ry heart prepare a throne, and ev’ry voice a song. On him the Spirit largely poured exerts its sacred fire, wisdom and might, and zeal and love, his holy breast inspire. 2 He comes the pris’ners to release, in Satan’s bondage held. The gates of brass before him burst, the iron fetters yield. He comes the broken heart to bind, the bleeding soul to cure, and with the treasures of his grace to enrich the humble poor. 3 His silver trumpets publish loud the day of jubilee. Our debts are all remitted now, he sets the people free. Our glad hosannas, Prince of Peace, thy welcome shall proclaim, and heav’n’s eternal arches ring with thy beloved name.
