Oh, Take a Look There

Author: L. P. Meter: 14.14.9.14.14.10 with refrain Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Luke 23:34 First Line: As we think of our dear Lord, how He bore our sin and shame Refrain First Line: Oh, take a look there, when He suffered for you Lyrics: 1 As we think of our dear Lord, how He bore our sin and shame, The load was so heavy on His soul; When He suffered all the scoffs, and the scorns from those He loved, He was suff’ring that we could be made whole. Refrain: Oh, take a look there, when He suffered for you, And listen to those kind, gentle words: As He prayed, “Forgive them, Lord, for they know not what they do,” He was praying for your and my poor soul. 2 In Gethsemane He bowed, there He prayed for you and me, The load was so heavy on His soul; Oh, He cried in agony, and the way was made so free, He was praying that we could be made whole. [Refrain] 3 They led Him to Calvary, His dear body tired and worn, The load was so heavy on His soul; There they nailed Him to the cross, where He bled and died for you, He was dying that we could be made true. [Refrain] 4 Oh, just listen now, I say, there they laid His form away, The load is now placed upon our souls; Will you go in agony, weeping in Gethsemane? Will you pray there for lost souls every day? [Refrain] 5 The grave could not hold our Lord, on the day He should arise He came forth a living sacrifice; And, dear sinner, He will save your lost soul from sin’s cold grave, And bring you back to life, oh, life again. [Refrain] Used With Tune: [As we think of our dear Lord, how He bore our sin and shame] Text Sources: Timeless Truths (http://library.timelesstruths.org/music/Oh_Take_a_Look_There); Anonymous/Unknown, The Blue Book (65)

Two Thousand Years Since Bethlehem

Author: Brian Hoare, 1935- Meter: 8.6.8.6 D Appears in 1 hymnal Scripture: Luke 23:33 Lyrics: 1 Two thousand years since Bethlehem first welcomed Jesus' birth: the startling truth began to dawn that God had come to earth. And as he grew and lived and taught a different way unfurled: a way of joy and love and peace, a new start for the world! 2 Two thousand years since Galilee where Jesus preached and healed; in words of truth and works of power God's kingdom was revealed. As young and old and rich and poor responded to his call, they found what we may find today: a new start for us all! 3 Two thousand years since Calvary, the hill where Jesus died; the Lamb of God, the sinless one, for me was crucified. But soon he rose up from the grave to reign in victory; good news I scarcely can believe; a new start won for me! 4 Two thousand years since Pentecost: the Holy Spirit came in sound of mighty, rushing wind and tongues of living flame; a gift to all who will believe and live the Jesus way; the power of God we may receive, a new start from today! 5 Two thousand years of Christian faith have changed our history, for Jesus is the Lord of time and of eternity. For all who seek a better way, than failure, sin and pain, still Jesus Christ makes all things new: a chance to start again! Used With Tune: FOREST GREEN
